The Copperfield Semi-AnnualThe Newsletter of The Copperfield Subdivision |
As a supplement to the newsletter, Walt Bailey has prepared the following Holliday trash pick up schedule:
The following holidays are observed and there will be no residential trash or recycling pickup: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. If the regular pickup day falls on one of these holidays, you will not receive pickup that day. Regular pickup will resume the next scheduled day. There will be no "makeup" pickups the day following these holidays:
Mondays, except listed holidays:
Weekly residential recycling pickup is provided streetside by the Frederick County Department of Solid Waste Management/Recycling. A county-provided blue recycling bin is required for pickup. Please call 301-696-2960 to request a bin. Bins need to be at streetside by 6:00 a.m. on Monday, but no earlier than 7:00 p.m. the evening before. Excessive unacceptable items in a bin can cause everything to be left behind. Acceptable items include:
If our recycling pickup day falls on one of the listed holidays, you will not receive recycling pickup that week. Please use the satellite drop off center at the Jefferson Ruritan Center if you need to dispose of your items before the next scheduled pickup.
Should residential recycling pickup be canceled or suspended due to weather and road conditions, you will not receive recycling pickup that week. Please listen to your local radio station or call the Recycling Office at 301-696-2960 for weather-related cancellations.
Thursdays, except listed holidays. Yard waste recycling is seasonal, April 1 through November 30 only.
Seasonal residential yard waste recycling pickup is provided streetside by the Copperfield Homeowners Association waste hauling contractor beginning April 1st and ending November 30th. Organic yard waste such as leaves, grass clippings, brush trimmings, and small branches is picked up on Thursdays. Yard waste for recycling must be placed in brown paper bags and deposited at streetside Thursday mornings by 6:00 a.m., but no earlier than 7:00 p.m. the evening before. DO NOT put yard waste bags out on Monday as they will NOT be picked up as residential trash or residential recycling.
Mondays and Thursdays, except noted holidays.
Twice weekly household trash hauling is provided by the Copperfield Homeowners Association's waste hauling contractor. Household waste that cannot be recycled should be placed in secured trash cans or trash bags at streetside no later than 6:00 a.m. on Mondays and Thursdays to ensure pickup that day. Do not place the trash outside for pickup earlier than 7:00 p.m. the evening before the scheduled pickup day.
The Frederick County Office of Solid Waste Management/Recycling recommends recycling to lower the amount of waste each of us generates each day. Ideas include recycling all acceptable materials instead of generating more household trash that ends up in the landfill. Start composting instead of adding yard waste to the landfill waste stream. Leaves, plant trimmings and fruit/vegetable scraps can produce wonderful compost that is very beneficial to your gardens and plants. You can grasscycle by leaving grass clippings on your lawn to add valuable nutrients to your soil. It saves you from purchasing fertilizers too!
