Driveway Additions

The Board has noticed several newly constructed driveway additions that do not meet with the approval of the Architectural Control Committee. We have noticed several gravel and even a concrete addition that are not consistent with the existing asphalt driveways. Please note that exterior alterations to your lot (including driveways) must be reviewed and approved by the Committee. The Committee has interpreted the Standards to mean that driveway additions should be of the same material and characteristics as the original surface.

Entrance Beautification

The B.O.D. would like to thank Dwight Barry and Jefferson Boy Scout Troop # 1066 for their efforts in mulching and planting flowers along the Copperfield entrance sign. The results look great! Thank you for the hard work!

Entrance Sign Repairs

I have contacted Groff's Signs to find out what cost would be associated with re-painting the entrance sign on Copperfield Drive. Groff's was the company that installed the original sign in 1988 for a price of $2200. After a close look at the sign, they said that it is in shade for most of the day, which prevents it from drying out after a rain. This has lead to the mold and pealing paint. They suggest that we remove some of the landscaping around and overtop of the sign. If we choose re-painting, they believe that it would require them to remove the sign and re-paint it in their shop. Because of the design of the sign, this would be very expensive. A cheaper option would be a new sign. They recommend that we remove the old sign and replace it with an aluminum sign. If anyone is interested they can go to www.cisigns.com and look at the Series 325 Post & Panel signs. They are all aluminum, come in a variety of colors, and have a twenty year finish. The estimated cost for the new sign is +/- $2000. More discussion about this subject at the next BOD meeting.

Overall Community Appearance

I have received several letters regarding the overall appearance of the community and, as a reminder; I will restate several of the Covenants that cover the subjects:

Community Yard Sale

The Community Yard Sale was a big success! Many residents participated in our June 8th sale and put money in their pockets. The weather was perfect and a large turnout made everyone happy! We will discuss a Fall Yard Sale with the B. O. D. at the next meeting.

Complaint Department

In an attempt to find topics of discussion for this Newsletter, I am asking you, the members of our community for input. I will continue to solicit news and other interesting items from the development, but please understand that this Newsletter is not the proper place to register specific complaints. Specific complaints about the Community or HOA violations must be sent in writing to Walter Hoffman. The Board will then act on the issues as they see fit. Then if the Board asks me to include your letter in the Newsletter, or to print a similar statement regarding your issue, I will do so for the benefit of the entire community. I will continue to include general reminders from the Board concerning issues that affect us all like blowing trash, the condition of the park, etc. but I do not want the Newsletter to become a vehicle for petty complaints and accusations. As always, if anyone has specific problem dealing with a property owner, their kids or pets, I encourage open and honest communication between the parties, after all, we are neighbors.
