Over Look Park Vandalism

A homeowner has recently noticed several older children cutting down trees in the park. They have been going into the park area with saws and hammers, probably to build tree houses or forts of some kind. This past Fall I found several rusty tools under a tree which I discarded. Writing has appeared on the benches, the picnic table is continually being pulled up out of its anchoring and the "Scoop Your Poop" signs are being vandalized. Also noted were piles of grass clippings and shrub prunings. The park should not be used as a dump for these items. Please talk with your children and let them know that observed vandalism will be reported to the police and that these activities will cost us to repair.

Community Activities

If anyone is interested in organizing HOA sponsored community activities in the park please contact Mark Crissman @ 473-5549. Some ideas which have been successful in the past include:

We are looking for ideas and volunteers to coordinate these activities

Wind And Trash

Just a pleasant reminder to all residents (especially new members of our community) Jefferson can be a very windy place. Please take care to cover your recycle bin and keep the lids tightly on your trash cans. Trash that is not bagged inside the cans seems to find a way out of the trash truck when the garbage men are dumping them. We can assure you that it will be us not them, who has to chase this stuff down. Lately , we are seeing more and more trash blowing around the neighborhood after trash day.

Annual Community Yard Sale

The annual Spring Community Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, June 8th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm . The BOD will place an add in several local newspapers the week before the sale. Please feel free to participate; this activity is free to all residents.

Water Shortage

Please remember that with the current water situation, Frederick County is on voluntary water restrictions. Please refrain from watering your lawns, washing your cars, houses and decks. Also try to practice conservation efforts whenever possible. These include quicker showers, fewer loads of laundry, and using bath / sink water to irrigate your plants & shrubs.

Entrance Sign Clean Up

Several residents are going to attempt to clean up the Copperfield entrance sign by power washing, but from the condition of the sign, it may get destroyed in the process. If it survives the cleaning, we have asked a local boy scout troop to spend a Saturday weeding, planting flowers and laying mulch around the beds. We are looking for a member of our community to act as a coordinator for the event. Preferably a parent of a boy or girl scout to supervise the delivery of the plants & mulch, and to give generalized instructions on where to plant (where not to plant) and how to clean up. If you are interested please call Dwight Barry at 473-5696.

If the sign does not survive the power washing, we will be faced with the decision to either remove or replace the sign. If the sign holds up, but the lettering is destroyed, we may be able to have it repainted and re-lettered. If anyone can be of assistance in either of these options, please call Mark Crissman @ 473-5549.
