Notice of Street Resurfacing

Slurry Pavers, Inc.

Notice of Street Resurfacing
Frederick County Department of Transportation has awarded our company a contract to resurface your road with slurry seal. This is a thin cold applied, asphalt overlay that will give the highway a uniform texture and riding surface.

Upon receipt of this notice, be prepared for work to begin by 7:00 am on May 8, 2008. In the event of rain, equipment breakdown or other circumstances beyond our control, we will begin paving on May 8 with completion scheduled for May 13.

If your road has on-street parking, please remove any parked vehicles from the roadway by 7:00 am. Traffic will be restricted to one lane during paving operations. This material needs to cure for approximately 3 hours before it can be opened for traffic. With the exception of cul-de-sacs, one side of each street will always be open for your travel to and from your home. We do request that if you need to cross over an unopened section of roadway that you wait at least one hour once it has been paved. Cross straight over, do not turn sharply or you will damage the new surface. Remember, just cross the new surface if you must. Do not continue to drive on the closed lane. You will damage the road an may possibly soil your car with asphalt! If you have concrete or exposed aggregate driveways, do not cross the new surface until the cones have been removed from your street. This will prevent asphalt from being tracked onto your driveway. You may want to block your own driveway so that other people do not use it to turn around in.

Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated. By working together we can quickly complete our work and provide you with an enhanced new look for your street. We will endeavor to keep the inconvenience to a minimum. If you have questions, please call Jason Bird, Project Superintendent, at 804-393-6612.

Dominion Gas

Processing Facility

Dominion Transmission, Inc. has selected a location along U.S. Route 340 and MD Route 180 (Jefferson Pike), approximately 5 tenths of a mile southwest of Copperfield (the “Rt. 340/180 Site”) as a potential site for a gas compressor facility. View pictures here!

This facility may re-zone our neighborhood as "Industrial" and invite further Industrial development. The facility increases risk of accidents from gas leaks and explosions and creates a target for terrorist attacks less than 7 tenths of a mile from Valley Elementary School!

In addition to concerns regarding property values, the facility poses some potential safety and environmental issues. There is a potential for water, air, noise and light pollution from the facility that would service customers in Virginia and Pennsylvania!

It is VITALLY important that you participate in the open house and voice your concerns. Attend the Wed, MAY 7th Open House in the Valley Elementary School Cafeteria from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

Please visit the Middletown website for more information and a history of this proposal. http://www.cpmv.org/dominion/overview.html
